REVIEW

Clause 01 // What the app is

wrongperson helps you find and act on privacy controls offered by third parties — credit bureaus, data brokers, marketing aggregators, etc. The App provides a curated list of tasks, links to each company's opt-out page, and helps you track what you've done.

wrongperson does not:

  • Submit opt-out requests on your behalf
  • Negotiate with data brokers for you
  • Guarantee that any opt-out will work, succeed, or stay successful
  • Make legal recommendations
  • Provide legal, financial, or identity-recovery advice

Clause 02 // Your responsibility

The privacy actions you take using this App are your actions. You read the instructions; you tap the links; you fill in the forms; you click submit.

You acknowledge that:

  • Some opt-outs have side effects. Freezing your credit blocks new credit applications until you unfreeze it. Removing yourself from data broker sites may break "people search" features your friends use to find you. Read each task before acting on it.
  • Some opt-outs are slow. Mail and email opt-outs can take up to 30 days, and some companies ignore requests entirely until you escalate.
  • Some opt-outs reset. Data brokers re-aggregate. Some companies wait until your next interaction to re-collect. wrongperson tracks what you've done; it does not enforce what stays done.
  • URLs change. We try to keep the catalog fresh, but companies move their opt-out pages without notice. If a link 404s, please report it.

Clause 03 // License

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App on devices you own or control, subject to Apple's App Store EULA. This license terminates if you breach these terms or uninstall the App.

You may not:

  • Reverse-engineer the App except as permitted by law
  • Resell or sublicense the App
  • Use the App to develop a competing product
  • Scrape, mirror, or republish the curated task catalog as your own

Clause 04 // Open-source components

The App uses third-party libraries listed in Settings → Acknowledgments. Each is used under its respective license. Your use of the App does not modify your rights under those licenses.

Clause 05 // As-is, no warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Any privacy action you take will achieve the result you expect
  • The catalog is comprehensive (there are always more data brokers we haven't catalogued)
  • The instructions are still current at the moment you read them

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Clause 06 // Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to damages for identity loss, financial loss, missed business opportunities, locked accounts, frozen credit you wanted unfrozen, or any other claim arising from your use of (or inability to use) the App.

If liability cannot be excluded under your local law, the developer's total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App (currently: zero).

Clause 07 // Your data

Your data belongs to you. See the Privacy Policy for what we collect (almost nothing), where it lives (your device), and how to export or delete it (Settings → Export Dossier / Burn The File).

Clause 08 // Updates

We may release App updates to fix bugs, add features, or update the catalog. App Store updates require your action; no update is automatic without your iOS settings allowing it.

Clause 09 // Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date and ship the new copy with an App update. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Clause 10 // Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of the United States of America.

Clause 11 // Severability

If any clause in these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining clauses stay in effect.

Clause 12 // Contact
